Model: Freja Beha Erichsen
Photographer: Karl Lagerfeld
Stylist: Carine Roitfeld
Karl Lagerfeld wows us again! After the fabulous Fendi Fall 2011 ad campaign he steps behind the camera once again to shoot the Chanel fall ad campaign featuring Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen. The surprise stylist of the shoot is none other than Carine Roitfeld, ex-editor in chief of the French Vogue, who now works as a freelance stylist. We can definitely see her influence in the shots in the use of lace and masks and with the provocative cat-woman looks. The campaign is very whimsical, Freja seems to be playing and experimenting with different outfits in front of a vintage photo booth.
Talking about her collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, Freja is very enthusiastic: "He knows exactly what he wants and he has a whole vision in his head, and he's very creative, and he'll come up with ideas for every single shot, which makes my job extremely easy." Another extremely happy man is Karl himself because of the collaboration between Freja and Carine "The mix of Carine with Freja was genius."
What do you think of the campaign? I know I love it! From the scared mouse to the pink neon eyebrows and grey hair every shot is spectacular and more full of life compared to previous campaigns for Chanel.
I think I can say this last shot is my favorite. It's very simple and bearing a very important message Il n'y a pas de mode si elle ne descend pas dans la rue - There is no such thing as fashion if it doesn't come down to the streets. Very beautifully said! Fashion has to come down from runways to the people, because they are the ones who keep fashion alive.
