Berlin Fashion Week: Day 3

Friday, 21 January 2011

I thought to mix it up a little bit with pictures as well as the videos, so that you can actually see the pieces that caught my eye and get a glimpse of the collection before starting to watch to know what to expect. The first show for today is from Polish designer Dawid Tomaszewski. After studying History of Art in Poland, at the London College of Fashion under Vivienne Westwood and in Berlin at the Akademie der Kunste, he was an assistant to Comme des Garcons in Paris and finally created his own label in 2009. His work draws inspiration from fine art, architecture and his passion for jazz music. The pieces that stood out in his show in my opinion were the following:

And here's the video of the show!

Later that day came the collection of Laurèl by designer Elizabeth Schwaiger, a collection conveying a relaxed feeling. The collection was launched in 1978 as a diffusion line of ESCADA and ever since Laurèl has been a synonym for feminine, fast and international. The show was really nice and the live music created a great atmosphere. The singer's dress is amazing!

I particularly enjoyed the colourful pieces, since most of the designers so far have been concentrating a lot on brown and earth tones. Here are the pieces that I found interesting:

And here's the video for you to see how they look like in motion:

Last but not least we have PERRET SCHAAD's show, a collaboration of two designers with great experience in the world of fashion, having worked among others for Givenchy Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter. A mix of savoir-faire and avantgardism, the collection draws inspiration from the similarities and the differences between the two designers. Fun fact? The shoes in the show are from ZARA and I have the grey T-strapped ones in the first picture! Here are the pieces that I liked:

And here's the backstage and catwalk video!

See you again tonight for a special treat: a peep inside the Hugo by Hugo Boss fashion show!
